Festa Della Repubblica!!
The 2nd of June and its a holiday in La Bella Italia! This day is special because it marks the Italian Republic Day (Festa Della Repubblica). Every year on this momentous day, the people of Italy celebrate the birth of the Italian republic. Just like our Indian embassy has celebrations across the globe on the 26th of January, the Italian Embassies across the globe hold celebrations on the 2nd of June.
So, if you happen to have a chance to visit Rome during this time, don't miss the beautiful colors of the Italian flag at the Colosseum. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in The Altar of the Fatherhood is decorated with a wreath, followed by a military parade that is presided by the Italian President. The Spanish Steps have a beautiful line of azeleas, making the staircase one of the most beautiful staircase in the world! But the ceremonies are not only in Rome, but throughout the country.
